Ways to give
Two things we know: 1. Loneliness is the biggest source of pain in long term care. Residents spent a great deal of time over the past three years isolated in their rooms. Therapeutic recreation and entertainment NOW is critical to restoring quality of life in long term care. 2. The cost of EVERYTHING has gone up dramatically. For example, an adapted bus to take residents on a outing used to cost $400 . Post covid it costs $900!! The Kosher food cost for a Sabbath post service kiddush went up by 80%. These are but very simple examples of what the Foundation provides our residents.
We are currently providing $120,000 a year for therapeutic recreation activities. We provide an extra $50,000 for heritage cultural activities mostly centered around the synagogue and holiday celebrations. Those numbers will skyrocket in the coming year! We need to raise more monies now to improve the days and months our residents have with us NOW!! We are calling this effort Project L’CHAIM. We want to provide our residents with the programs to bring life to their living. We want to increase our giving for this to $250,000 per year.
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE FOR ALL THINGS GOOD!! If Covid has taught us anything it is time to sit in the living room and use the good dishes!! Thank you all for helping us do this for our residents.
This fund has allowed us to purchase tablets and other devices to help families communicate with residents during this incredibly challenging time. The fund has also provided special meals for devoted staff at the Centre who are working long and stressful days. The Foundation is here to support the Centre’s residents and provide additional support when it is needed most.
Donald Berman Maimonides Tribute Cards are an attractive and efficient way to send caring messages to family and friends, supporting the Centre at the same time.
You can send these tribute cards to convey messages of condolence and to send best wishes on special occasions: birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, to name a few.
A lovely, personalized message printed on a special card is sent to the recipient right away, and a tax receipt is issued for your kind donation.
The following images on our tribute cards are part of the Art for Healing collection at the Centre.
Bequests have traditionally been one of the most important sources of revenue for the Foundation. In addition to cash bequests, other forms of gifts include life insurance, annuities, trusts, and marketable securities. Your bequest may provide substantial tax benefits for your estate.
Please remember the Donald Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre Foundation when drafting or revising your will.
Planned Giving may take the form of insurance programs, charitable trusts, or annual named funds.
The giving can begin now! There are many ways of supporting the Centre and deriving significant tax advantages in the present.
